Knowledge Team Leader
As the IT Senior Advisor, Strategic Business Relationship Partner for Edmonton Zone Clinical Services, in Alberta Health Services (AHS), Susan’s primary focus includes developing and maintaining close partnerships with clinical operations and IT to balance clinical technology demands with IT capabilities. This includes the ability to work with various levels including physicians, clinicians, executives, and hospital administrators.
Since joining Alberta Health Services in 2002, Susan became familiar with the operations of large and complex health care organizations. She was a member of the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital (GRH) Executive Leadership Team as the GRH Executive Associate from 2002 to 2014. During that time, she gained a unique set of operational and clinical expertise that facilitated her involvement in many key AHS projects and initiatives including redesigning outpatient programs; involvement in accreditation evaluations; closely monitoring the site’s budget; daily operations and strategic plans development.
After completing her Masters, Susan moved into the information technology portfolio in the fall of 2014. She was a key member and the coordinator of the Edmonton Zone Clinical Informatics and Information Technology (IT) Governance Subcommittee which was the approving body for all key IT new investments in the Edmonton Zone. Susan is now closely involved in Connect Care (Clinical Information System for AHS). Susan was also part of the project management team that rolled out innovative and cutting-edge technology to hospitals such as the Gamma Knife and a Virtual Acute Care Unit for patients with Pulmonary Function Disorder.
Susan completed her Masters in Healthcare Leadership in the spring of 2013 followed by a project management foundations certification from NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology). She also obtained her Business Relationship Management designation in the fall of 2014 from BRM Institute as well as PROSCI Change Management certification through AHS.
Susan currently leads the Business Relationship Management Institute Community of Interest for Canada and she has published a few articles on the role of BRM Institute.
